  2. What does the “Your Connection is Not Private” error mean? Whenever we visit a website, our browser’s work is to check whether visiting that website is safe or unsafe, because visiting an unsafe website could harm our privacy. Browsers verify the site’s security by checking its security certificate to confirm that visiting it is safe or not. Whenever the certificate is up to the mark, everything goes smoothly but when the certificate is not up to the mark then it shows a warning message of “Your Connection is Not Private” error, which means that the browser is not sure that the site is safe or not and visiting that site may put your personal information at risk. It is not something to ignore.

  3. How to fix Your Connection is Not Private? Although the main culprit is the SSL Certificate behind this issue, sometimes it could occur due to client-server issues ( our browser, computer, OS). So we’ll dive a little into both. Here are a few ways which can help in fixing this issue, let’s have a look. 1.Reload the page This might seem a little obvious as the first solution to any kind of troubleshooting is reloading the page. If it doesn’t work on the first attempt, try to close your browser and then reload.

  4. 2.Consider if using public Wi-Fi Try avoiding the use of public Wi-Fi as much as you can because it might be risky. Public WI-Fi is a hacker’s favorite hobby. They are secure, are easy to hack, and can leak your data without warning. This is why in airports, hotels, cafes for access to public Wi-Fi, the user needs to visit a portal accepting their terms and conditions. Nowadays HTTPS is a must for every website, especially for those websites which collect user information. In case you are connected, this is then also this “ Your Connection is Not Private” error that can occur.

  5. 3. Go Incognito The next suggestion to resolve this problem can be to clear the browser’s cache. But it’s not a kid’s game, so the suggestion would be to use incognito mode. Incognito mode allows you to browse without saving history and cache. If the problem persists i.e. it still shows a “Your Connection is Not Private” error, then the fault is on the website, likely having safety issues.

  6. 3. Clear your browsing data While browsing online, our computer stores cookies that gather information. These cookies can be helpful on one hand as they personalize the browsing experience. They can streamline our logins, our purchase history, can autofill our information, etc. While on the other hand, it could be risky if our connection is not private. By clearing our browsing data, we delete all the stored cookies and other stored private information and will provide you a more secure browsing experience.

  7. 4. Check your Antivirus Software Sometimes VPNs and Antivirus become overprotective. In this way, they usually block those websites also which have up to mark SSL Certificate. So, to check whether the issue is raised by antivirus or not, just temporarily disable the antivirus and VPN. If the problem remains then, this is not the reason, we need to think of some other causes.

  8. 5. Update your OS Sometimes when we avoid the device updates and just keep on working, this can also create issues. When the devices are not up-to-date, they are not able to communicate with browsers correctly and are not able to verify that the site is safe or not. So, to ensure this, just check if there is any update available to your device or not. If any, then update the device and try again. If this would be the reason then it will be resolved after doing this and if the “Your Connection is Not Private” error still exists then try next.

  9. Seek Help You can visit your browser’s help forum to check how others have resolved their problem of “Your Connection is Not Private” errors. See all the suggestions or answers related to this and do try them once to resolve this and see that what worked for them, really works for you or not.
