  1. CT Scan of the Liver and Biliary Tract A CT scan is a type of diagnostic imaging test. In this test, x-rays and computer technology are used to produce images of the body, called slices. A CT scan can generate detailed images of any part of the body, such as bones, muscles, fat, organs, and blood vessels. The images obtained are more detailed than those offered by ordinary radiographs. In a computerized tomography, an X-ray beam moves in circles around your body. This allows various types of views of any part of the body. The X-ray data is sent to a computer that interprets the X-ray data and presents it on a monitor. For the performance of some tests, you receive a contrast medium. It may be given by mouth or through a vein. This makes the parts of your body studied stand out better in the image. A CT scan of the liver and bile ducts can provide more detailed information about the liver, gallbladder, and related structures than ordinary x-rays of the abdomen. CT scans provide more detailed information to health care providers about injuries or diseases of the liver, gallbladder, and bile ducts. Why might I need a CT scan of the liver and bile ducts? A CT scan of the liver and bile ducts can be used to look at the liver or gallbladder and its related structures for: •Tumors or other injuries •Injuries •Bleeding •Infections •Abscesses (pus accumulation) •Unexplained abdominal pain •Locks •Other health problems A CT scan may be done when another type of tests, such as an x-ray, a physical exam, or ultrasound, does not yield conclusive results. A CT scan of the liver and bile ducts can also be used to guide the needles during a liver biopsy. A biopsy requires removing a small section of tissue to be analyzed in the laboratory. It can also be done to remove fluid from the liver or bile ducts. A CT scan of the liver is helpful in diagnosing certain types of jaundice. Jaundice occurs when the skin and eyes take on a yellowish color due to specific liver problems. There may be other causes for your healthcare provider to recommend a CT scan price in Delhi of the liver and bile ducts. What are the uncertainties of a CT scan of the liver and bile ducts? You may want to question your healthcare provider about the quantity of radiation used during the CT scan, who can also explain your risks.

  2. If you are expecting a baby or think you might be pregnant, tell your healthcare provider. Exposure to radiation during pregnancy can create congenital disabilities. If contrast material is used, there is a risk of an allergic reaction to the material. If you are sensitive to any medication, contrast dye or iodine, tell your healthcare provider. People who have kidney failure or other kidney problems should inform their healthcare provider. In some cases, the contrast dye can generate kidney failure, and people who have kidney disease are likely to have kidney damage after being exposed to a contrast material.
