  1. Students Win Colloquium 2023 with an Advanced Sign Language Glove Education is a powerful catalyst for societal progress that supports and encourages communities to grow and prosper with the support of visionary minds. At its core, transformational education helps shape minds and fuel societal advancement by empowering individuals who break barriers and foster innovation and inclusivity. In the dynamic landscape of learning, institutions like Shiv Nadar School, under the aegis of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, stand as beacons of educational excellence. Guided by a commitment to nurturing young minds, these institutions harness innovation to address real-world challenges. This synergy between education and innovation not only enriches individual lives but also contributes to the collective advancement of society. In a remarkable showcase of innovation, students at Shiv Nadar School, under the Shiv Nadar Foundation initiative, unveiled a groundbreaking glove designed to support the hearing impaired. Grade 10 students from a K–12 education initiative by the Shiv Nadar Foundation invented a revolutionary creation. Team Communica, comprising Aaditya Seth, Samaira Taneja, Vanij Gupta, Armaan Srivatsan, and Sehraj Kapoor, are the students behind the “intelligent glove.” This invention earned them a trip to CERN, the renowned European Organization for Nuclear Research, where their groundbreaking scientific contributions were celebrated. This intelligent glove translates sign language into speech, providing a vital communication tool for over 2.5 million individuals in India, including 50,000 in Delhi/NCR. The glove features sensor technology, real-time gesture-to-speech translation, customizable settings, and mobile integration. Notably, it has been integrated into the work lives of hearing-impaired employees at Bharat Petroleum, thus helping them interact with customers independently. This innovative tool won the first prize at Colloquium 2023, a coveted annual tech event.
