Different Types Of Storage Shelves And Their Applications Different Types Of Storage Shelves And Their Applications Whether a person is in his home or an office, he needs some storage space to place his things and important belongings. At home one uses cabinet, cupboards to place all their personal belongings such as clothes, specks, watch, wallet and shoes. At office, racks and shelves are used to keep documents, files, stationery and lunch boxes. Then there are lockers to safeguard valuables and confidential belongings. At home steel lockers may be equipped with special combination password locks to keep safe all the valuables such as cash, gold, precious jewelry and investment documents. Office lockers may hold confidential contract agreements, stock details, important documents and sometimes even hard cash. Storage shelves may be composed of glass, metal, wood or plastic materials. Wooden shelves are usually used for keeping library of books, CDs or other non heavy miscellaneous items. Often wooden shelves are used in modular kitchens where the utensils are classified and stored in their respective shelves. Steel or metallic shelves are often used where the considerably heavy items are stored and preserved. Glass shelves and showcases are often used to place showpieces, small photo frames and other decorative items. Warehouses often use steel or metallic shelves to store huge containers unloaded from ships or air crafts. Many huge departmental stores use steel shelves to store bulky loads. Such as air conditioners, TV sets, microwave ovens and other heavy equipments. Many hotel chains also use steel shelves to store huge filled up containers used for cooking. Most banks provide metal lockers to their clients by charging fixed amount of rent. These lockers have thick walls around four to five inches in size. All these metallic bank lockers are further secured by an external metallic door which further adds up to the level of security to all the lockers, making them more safer than home lockers. Many homes also facilitate loft shelves underneath the ceiling for storage. Almost all the non frequented and antique items are kept in storage lofts. Some even place all the repairable and clearance items on a dedicated storage loft. Many individuals also lay external storage racks and shelves in the house exterior or in the garages to keep plants, to store shoes and other foot wears, to store automobile tool box, tubes and spare tyres. Storage of things and valuables using Steel Shelving and metallic lockers is considered to be the best way of preserving things. Steel shelves could carry huge loads, are weatherproof and doesn’t entertain termites or any other insects. Occasional hot water or liquid spills doesn’t cause any harm either. When supported with good locking system, steel shelving proves to be great valuable safeguarding mechanism for residential homes.
