    64. Go-Forward Plan Feedback on this year’s process – how did concept of “Award Lead” work? Any lessons learned or suggested improvements? More nominations for ABP Award due by 31 January - ABP Committee Needs To Help Publicize Awards Throughout Aerospace Community ASM and JPC papers nominated for the Best Paper award will be encouraged to submit to the Journal of Propulsion and Power. Honors & Awards Subcommittee will be developing flyers publicizing the awards for distribution at JPC and next year’s ASM as well as electronically to AIAA members with a professional ABP interest We will be looking into placing an ad in the AIAA Student Journal for the Gordon C. Oates Graduate Award. Other ABPTC members interested in helping as a reviewer should contact the award lead or Dan Jensen.

    87. Milestones & Deadlines

    88. ABPTC Activities Session Organizers Recruit session chairs Volunteer to be a session chair

    89. Raffles Biggest problem with conference is late paper submittals – we need to encourage early submittals Signed copies of Sally Ride book for early submittals (raffle basis)

    90. Videos for No Shows Last minute paper dropout rate is >20% (mostly due to lack of ITAR approval) Requesting video’s from Session Chairs e.g. NASA, other companies to cover for No Shows Identify and coordinate appropriate RMS videos Chuck Stevens represented Raytheon, the host of ’05 JPC, addressed the TC with concerns “no shows.” He estimated that there are 20% to 25% dropouts of papers. Early work helps minimize the number of dropouts.Chuck Stevens represented Raytheon, the host of ’05 JPC, addressed the TC with concerns “no shows.” He estimated that there are 20% to 25% dropouts of papers. 94. JPC 2006 Conference Theme

    95. 2006 JPC Conference Structure

    96. 2006 Candidate ITAR Restricted Sessions A Concern Is Growing That the JPC Is Experiencing Significant Paper/Session Withdrawals and Reduced Technical Content We Suggest the Addition of Several ITAR Controlled Sessions to Strengthen the Relevance, Technical Content and Participation in Selected U.S. Only Sessions Candidate ITAR Controlled Topics Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) Propulsion Integrated High Performance Rocket Propulsion Technology (IHPRPT) Programs Strategic Propulsion Applications Programs FALCON Propulsion Programs

    97. 2006 Candidate ITAR Restricted Sessions Recommended Approach: Establish Separate Sessions During Conference “Special Interest Session - By Invitation Only” Use Dedicated Room or Dedicated Building Post Door Monitor(s) to Limit Access to Approved Participants Unobtrusive Marking on Badge; Citizenship Status Would Be Verified During Registration Will Need to Coordinate Registration Forms and Badging with AIAA Ensure Adequate Security During Presentations Close Doors Request That All Cell Phones/Pagers/Recording Devices Be Turned Off Ensure Dedicated PC/Projector Is Available for Presentations Option to Hold Separate Sessions on Following Day Is Less Desirable Added Cost Limited Attendance

    98. Sacramento Local Attractions Aerojet Propulsion Facility Historic Old Town Sacramento Sacramento Railroad Museum American River Fishing and White Water Rafting Sierra Nevada Range and Surrounding Wine Regions Sacramento River Cats AAA Baseball and Monarchs WNBA Easy Access to SF Bay Area and Lake Tahoe

    99. New Paper Review Process A new emphasis will be placed on ensuring that abstracts meet the minimum requirements. Will likely be moving to a stricter “peer review” process where authors will receive feedback on their papers by the reviewers. Papers not meeting minimum requirements will either be rejected or returned to the author for revision. This will place more work on the reviewers to do a thorough review of each paper, but will ultimately improve the quality of the conference.
