  1. All you need to know about MTV Emerge When someone mentions music channel, the name which pops up in most people’s mind is MTV. This is how successful MTV has been in fascinating the minds of the young generation with its fresh music over the last few decades. There are several versions of MTV, different in each country. In India, MTV primarily airs music produced by Bollywood and successful songs from the independent pop industry of India. A few years back, Viacom 18 introduced youth-based drama series as well as youth-based reality shows on MTV. As these shows gained popularity, MTV was split into MTV Beats for music and MTV as a youth-based wholesome entertainment channel. Indian viewers have acknowledged this, and both the channels of MTV are equally popular today. Viacom 18 conducted research on whether or not Indian viewers would like to see American music as well along with Bollywood chartbusters on MTV. The results came positive and so, the channel VH1was launched with the aim to tap the market of English music in India. In a matter of days, VH1 gained high TRP on Indian television and people of all ages started to enjoy its programmes. However, the growth of VH1 seemed to be limited to the big cities of the country. To tackle this issue and take English music to the smaller cities and rural areas of India, Viacom 18 launched an event by the name of MTV Emerge. MTV Emergeis a road show, which provides opportunities to budding singers and music bands to showcase their talents. The show is organized across country in different venues at different times. If you catch one of their shows, you will surely fall in love with them. This strategy turned out to be quite successful as people from smaller cities and rural India are coming up in large numbers to be associated with this musical event. The TRP of MTV and VH1 has also increased significantly in the Tier II cities of the country. Music and art have always been valued in Indian society. Viacom 18 understands it very well and they are leaving no stone unturned to convert this love among Indians into true-blue electronic entertainment and emerge as a leader in the media industry.
