The McDermott Scholars Program Established in honor of TI co-founder Eugene McDermott Endowed with $32 million gift from Margaret McDermott Provides year round, four-year support for tuition & fees, annual book stipend, housing, cohort travel, living expenses, two trips home each year for out-of-town Scholars Worth well over $130,000 www.utdallas.edu/mcdermott

Qualifications Students who will have the best chance of becoming McDermott Finalists: SAT or ACT score at or above the 97th percentile 2100+ on the three part SAT 1400+ on the two part SAT (Verbal + Math) 32+ on the ACT Top 5% of graduating class Long records of community volunteerism and leadership Broad, eclectic interests in science, literature, and the arts Social skills to interact easily with adults and peers
