  3. The Global Patient Safety Challenge 2005-2006 To achieve this goal, the initiative brings together: • WHO Guidelines on Hand Hygiene in Health Care • Blood /transfusion safety (Hep-B,C, HIV) • Injection safety • Immunization • Safe water, sanitation • Hospital Waste management

The Global Patient Safety Challenge 2005-2006 • Systematic efforts are being made to raise the profile of this issue on a global scale through awareness raising campaigns and generating commitment through collaborations with governments, Health care and allied Industry and other health services

The Global Patient Safety Challenge 2005-2006 • At the launch, several WHO Member States signed a statement committing themselves to addressing health care-associated infection in their country • As a follow-up to this event and building on the momentum generated worldwide, WHO, in close collaboration with ministries of health, is facilitating national events to inaugurate this initiative in different parts of the world (Now in Pakistan), and exploring how "Clean Care is Safer Care" can build on existing strategies or support country responses for improving the safety of care. 

  6. The Global Patient Safety Challenge 2005-2006 • One of the components of this work is to raise high-level awareness and commitment at country level to address health care-associated infections. Firstly, by inviting ministers of health and major associations of health care professionals to sign a statement committing to address these infections in their country, to give priority to hand hygiene in health care, and to share learning internationally

SPECIAL FEATURES-II • This is a joint conference of International Federation of Infection Control (IFIC) • IFIC enjoys membership of over 80 countries and brings in extensive expertise in the area of Infection Control • This collaboration will facilitate participation of Internationally recognized experts in this conference
