  1. Genesis 1:26 (NRSV) 26 Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”

  2. Genesis 3:22 22 Then the Lord God said, “See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”—

  3. Evolution vs Creation • Theory of Evolution • Biochemistry Predestination • Intelligent Design

  4. Genesis 1:28 28 God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

  5. Subdue The Hebrew is “kabash.” You can’t get around it; it does mean “subdue” or “enslave”, and even in the harshest instances “molest” or “rape.”  We subdue the earth because without such subjugation the harshness of nature would yield death for us rather than life.

  6. Dominion The Hebrew word is ”radah.” It’s a royal word. This is the dominating rule of a king. Not like a tirade King described in Ezekiel 34:4, but like a humble King described in Psalm 72.

  7. How God Uses Creation • Dirt/Sand/Rock/Land • Water • Grapes • Trees If you look close enough you will find Jesus in all of creation. You will discover how He used creation to teach us about His purpose and our purpose in this experience we call life.

  8. Kingdom Carryout #1 You were created in the image of God by the power of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Think about it! You are created by the “Great I AM.” Who created everything you have the privilege to enjoy and experience.

  9. Bonus Nugget “You weren’t made from matter, but you do matter to the One who created everything.” ~ Harold Long

  10. Kingdom Carryout #2 God is still creating. People are born everyday, and born with a purpose. You were born with a “gift mix” and called according to His purpose. Through this purpose God wants you to continue the creation process.

  11. Kingdom Carryout #3 Work on being a committed steward of creation. Be committed to making sure God’s creation receives righteousness, justice and peace, because we are the kings and queens of all creation.

  12. Kingdom Carryout #4 • Don’t worship creation but instead worship your Creator! • Remember the double commandment: 1. Love God 2. Love Your Neighbor: Q: Who’s your neighbor? A: All of Creation
