  28. Kodak i780 BBH Spectrum FUJITSU 5900C Canon DR X10C • Rated Speed vs. Actual Throughput: • 128 ppm Rated Speed decreases significantly in all scenarios that involve duplex and any resolution above 200dpi. For example, scanner slows to 52ppm with 200dpi, bitonal, duplex scanning, for a reduction in throughput speeds of more than 50% from rated speed. At 300 dpi, bitonal, duplex, speed slows down to 38ppm, for a reduction of 90ppm from its stated rated speed – or a reduction of 70%. • Rated Speed vs. Actual Throughput: • 130 ppm Rated speed = Throughput Speed, for B&W Scanning, Color Scanning, Grayscale Scanning, and all Features enabled, including AO/AR, Dual Stream output, Mixed Batch scanning, and all Image quality features including color dropout, deskew, blank page detection and cropping. • Rated Speed vs. Actual Throughput: • 140 ppm / 120 ppm Rated Speed (for 8140/8120 models) decreases by 25% with B&W two-sided document scanning, and 74% with color two-sided document scanning with deskew, auto crop, and AO/AR features turned on at 200 and 300 dpi. • Rated Speed vs. Actual Throughput: • 120 ppm Rated Speed decreases by 31% in one-sided mode and 72% in two-sided mode @ 200 dpi, and decreases 51% in one-sided mode, and 85% in two-sided mode @ 300 dpi. Specific image quality features that contribute significantly to the Fujitsu scanners throughput decline include blank page detection, deskew, auto cropping, and AO/AR. Additionally, speed declines to 100ppm with VRS. 29. i700 Series vs. DR-X10C Speed and Throughput Comparison Summary In the world of production scanning, results count and time matters: Time = Throughput! Production scanning tests were conducted to compare real world throughput. CANON DR-X10C (128 ppm) Enabling production features can reduce throughput to as little as 30% of rated speed (38 ppm) Adding VRS ($$) can further reduce throughout to as low as 23% of rated speed (29 ppm) KODAK i700 Series (i780 130 ppm; i750 115 ppm; i730 90 ppm) The Kodak i700 Series Scanners consistently outperform the Canon DR-X10C Scanner with production features enabled. Copyright 2009 Eastman Kodak Co., for training purposes only, information subject to change without notice.

  30. i700 Series versus DR-X10C production throughput results The exact same host PC and capture application (QuickScan Pro) were used during both i780 and DR-X10C testing * i730 and i750 data extrapolated from i780 results Copyright 2009 Eastman Kodak Co., for training purposes only, information subject to change without notice.

  31. Data Integrity and Imaging Productivity Comparison In the world of production scanning, results count and time matters: Results = Image Quality! • Image quality tests were conducted to compare data integrity of scanned batches. • CANON DR-X10C • The DR-X10C requires a great deal of time to optimize brightness/contrast adjustments, reducing overall productivity. • Even with “optimized settings”, the Canon DR-X10C delivers sub-standard OCR performance - averaging a 67% read rate in the test. • KODAK i700 Series • OCR read rates for the i700 Series using default settings exceed the performance of the DR-X10C. • With Perfect Page image processing, i700 series scanners automatically deliver consistently high OCR read rates – averaging a 95% read rate in the test. 33. True-Timed Running Tests In the world of production scanning, results count and time matters: Even when your documents are challenging! • Production scanning tests were conducted to compare real world throughput with batches of documents that simulated multi-feed events using standard documents. • Multi-feed Productivity Test • Simulated job set with pages that intentionally create multi-feeds that stopped scanning. • Job stream consisted of Batch of 100 pages with induced multifeeds every 10 pages. • The same documents were used for all tests. Copyright 2009 Eastman Kodak Co., for training purposes only, information subject to change without notice.

  34. True-Timed Running Tests – Challenging Document test In the world of production scanning, results count and time matters: Even when your documents are VERY challenging! Kodak i780 vs. Canon DR-X10C side-by-side scanning tests were performed with a very challenging set of documents that included a wide ranges of thicknesses, sizes and finishes. Document sizes varied greatly within the batch: from business cards to A3 size documents. The batch included documents that created Multifeed alarms from envelopes and “un-separated” multi-part forms inserted in batch. That’s a 54% productivity reduction compared to the i780!
