  4. Previous Curriculum Review • Beautiful skin is determined by the healthy structure and proper function of components within the skin. • To maintain beautiful skin, and slow the rate at which it ages, the structure and function of the skin must be supplemented and protected.

Essential Needs of the Skin Basic Needs Cleanse Tone Protect AM Hydrate PM • The skin’s ten essential skin care needs can be divided into two categories: • Basicneeds—the minimum, daily needs or regimen steps all skin types require. • Advancedneeds—met by incorporating additional regimen steps, as needed, to address specific concerns. Starting in our late 20s our advanced needs steadily increase. • Together, basic needs and advanced needs form the essential needs of the skin.   11. Basic Needs • Although the skin has ten essential needs for optimal health and beauty, meeting the minimum basic, daily needs with four regimen steps creates the foundation of daily skin care. CLEANSE TONE PROTECT DAY HYDRATE NIGHT

Basic Daily Need: Cleanse The cleanse step meets the skin’s basic need to be free of excess oil, dirt, and pollutants. Usage Tips • The advanced steps refinish, exfoliate, mask, or revitalize can be performed either morning or evening, but not twice in one day. • It is not recommended to perform the refinish, exfoliate, or mask steps on the same day; or to perform more than 3–4 total steps per week. • When applying more than one treatment product, apply serums first then gels. • Apply day lotions after treatment products have dried.
