INTRODUCTION Verbal Ability is an important component of management entrance exams.The questions in this section broadly test abilities in word power, analogies, sentence correction and verbal reasoning. This means that it demands a good vocabulary and a strong command of English.For this one require good verbal skills. Verbal skills means ability to know the meaning, usage of word, their synonyms & antonyms,complete sentences with words omitted. Verbal skills Reading Comprehension means ability to read and understand the meaning of the text. Reading comprehension involves at least two people: the reader and the writer. The process of comprehending involves decoding the writer's words and then using background knowledge to construct an approximate understanding of the writer's message.

  3. How to prepare for Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension Reading:- Inculcate a habit of reading to improve your concentration levels.Create a summary in your mind of whatever you read. This will help you to remember facts,meanings etc. Devote one hour daily on reading diverse topics - by reading newspapers,magazines, online articles etc.One should read rigorously everyday ,to improve their vocabulary and to increase their speed.

Reasoning Reasoning questions can be framed in different forms - arranging jumbled sentences in correct order, deriving the meaning of a short passage and sentence correction, identifying opening and closing statements from a series of statements and the correct usage of words are some common question formats. These can often be time consuming and need to be attempted with full concentration. Extensive practice and familiarity with these types of questions can be very helpful to build up speed.

  5. Word Power • Watch out for unfamiliar words. Try and guess the meaning. • When having a conversation with somebody, remember the unfamiliar word and either ask them what it means or look it up in the dictionary. • Play word games. • Read whatever you’re interested in. • TRY TO DO 3-4 SESSION OF NORMAN LEWIS “WORD POWER MADE EASY” everyday.
