  1. Keeping A Clean Home When You Have Cats

  2. Cats are wonderful creatures, and many of us love them and have them as pets, however, they can make your home smelly and cause issues with their pet dander. Just because you love your pet cats, doesn’t mean that you have to let them inadvertently spoil your home, so follow the below tips for keeping a clean home that is welcoming to both your pets, and visitors: Groom your cat often: Any hair trapped in a brush, is hair that isn’t floating around your home or settling in the corners, and regular brushing of your cat will greatly reduce pet dander.

  3. Vacuum often: This is the single most effective way to keep hair, dirt and dander to a minimum in your home, and you can even buy vacuum cleaners specially designed for tackling pet hair. Don’t forget to clean your baseboards: These are the areas that often get forgotten about, but are the prime zones for trapping cat hair, dander and other debris. Vacuum them and/or wipe them with a damp cloth frequently.

  4. Wherever possible, don’t feed your cat in the kitchen: If you can feed your cat outside, or in an area of your home that experiences less footfall, this would be the most hygienic solution. Put the litter tray in an appropriate place: Litter trays can get messy, especially if your cat likes to scratch around in it after every use! Try to keep the tray as far away from where you most spend your time, and try to keep it on a wooden or tiled floor to help clean up spillages with ease and keep the area more hygienically clean.

  5. Provide your cat with a blanket: Your cat will soon get used to sleeping on a blanket, and will even enjoy it, and since you can wash it regularly, you can help minimize cat hair and dander. Clean your counters often: Even if you try to keep your cat off of counters and worktops, they can jump up there when your back is turned, and easily spread bacteria from their paws. Clean all counters often with an anti- bacterial solution.

  6. Aerate your home: There’s no substitute for fresh air, and if you can open your windows to let air in on a regular basis, this will help reduce unpleasant odors. Alternatively, if you love your cat but don’t love cleaning up after them, a professional cleaning service could be the best solution. With many schedules and affordable packages to suit all budgets, if you thought you couldn’t afford a cleaner, you might want to think twice.
