  3. About Thapar Institute • Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, previously known as Thapar University, is an institute deemed to be university, in Patiala. It was founded in 1956 by Karam Chand Thapar. The institute has been granted full autonomy and the status of deemed-to-be-university by the University Grants Commission.

  4. Second semester admissions -TIET • TIET will be granted as per availability of seats at the end of the first semester of first year. In addition, students from any recognised institute/university need to pass the TIET entrance test (to be conducted on December 22, 2019 in Patiala and New Delhi) and must have secured 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of Physics, Mathematics and any one subject from Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational in their 10+2 examination.

  6. Dual Degree courses – Thapar Institute • Electronics & Communication Engineering - Thapar’s department of electronics and communication engineering was established in 1975 with the inception of the institute to cater to undergraduate education in the field of electronics and communication engineering. It aims to produce quality professionals in electronics and communication engineering to compete globally and excel by carrying out basic and applied research in emerging areas by forging strong industry-institute interaction.

  7. International Engineering Programme • In line with its mission to provide world class educational experience by incorporating global best practices in its format, Thapar University has embarked on a Contemporarisation Program under academic mentorship of Trinity College, Dublin, University of Dublin, Ireland. Under this program Thapar University through its Center for International Relations announces a credit transfer International Engineering program with Trinity College Dublin, University of Dublin (TCD). This program focuses on delivering a research inspired, outcome based educational experience to the students in partnership with TCD, an international university of repute.

Important Dates • Last date of receipt of application forms: December 16, 2019 • Date of Offline Entrance Test: December 22, 2019 • Venue for Offline Entrance Test: Patiala and New Delhi • Timing for Offline Entrance Test: 10:00 AM – 01:00 PM • Display of list of qualified candidates: December 31, 2019 • Counselling for admission & deposit of fee: January 3, 2020 • Venue for counselling: Auditorium of TIET, Patiala • Commencement of classes: January 6, 2020
