  2. Indian spices are popular across the globe and have successfully marked a place in the global cooking sphere. There is a wide range of Indian spices used in cooking Indian dishes and varieties and they add flavor and taste to the dishes. Each of these Indian spices has its own flavoring and essence and the absence of one spice can literally break the dish.  In ancient times, Indian spices were hugely exported to various parts of the world and traders from different parts of the world visited Indian for these exotic spices. Apart from adding flavor and texture to dishes, Indian spices are known to have some impeccable health benefits and medicinal properties too. Indian ancestors used these spices to the Indian food culture for the very same reason. In this article, we will discuss some of the spices and their medicinal properties and health benefits.  Anise  Mostly used for culinary purposes in various Indian, Chinese, Malaysian dishes, Star Anise is a rich source of antioxidants such as Linalool and vitamin C. It boosts your immune system to a great extent to fight against environmental toxins and bacteria. You can easily get star anise from the online grocery store or from a departmental store. 

  3. Allspice It is a combination of some Indian spices such as pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon and is used in making Indian dishes such as lentils, fish, meat and others. It has superior medicinal properties which help in digestion, blood circulation and also improve the dental and heart health. Carom seeds  Carom seeds can be eaten raw too even though it tastes bitter as it has some superior medicinal properties. It is mostly used to improve the flavor and taste of dishes. It improves digestion, helps in stomach cramps, and can give relief in hyperacidity and gastritis too. Rich in calcium, protein and fiber, carom seeds also improve heart health by fighting against inflammation in the body.  Black Pepper  Just a pinch of black pepper can make the dish more flavorful and appetizing. Apart from it, black pepper has numerous health benefits. It helps you in losing weight and also can give relief from cold and cough. If you are suffering from indigestion, using black pepper regularly can be helpful. Also, it is found helpful for various skin conditions too. 

  4. Black Cumin Black Cumin seed oil is sold across India due to some powerful health benefits it offers. It is believed that black cumin seed oil can help in respiratory issues such as asthma, allergies and shortness of breath. In addition to that, it is rich in antioxidants, vitamins and good acids that balance the pH system of the body and promotes good overall health. Cumin  One of the most used Indian spices in Indian dish making, cumin seeds have a bitter taste, but it offers some extraordinary health benefits. It improves digestion, gut health, effective against insomnia, skin disorders, respiratory disorders, bronchitis, and anaemia. For nausea, acidity, gas and other digestive issues, a glass of warm water mixed with Jeera will surely help you to get instant relief. Cloves  Indians still use whole cloves in the dishes to add flavor and taste to it. When it comes to medicinal properties, cloves are antibacterial, antiviral and antiseptic. It is rich in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, minerals and fibers. For stomach pain and cramps, clove oil is highly used in aromatherapy. Clove oil mixed with other oils can be helpful to treat various disorders. 

  5. Turmeric It is one of the most popular Indian spices across the globe and has some magnificent health benefits and medicinal properties. It is beneficial in cold and cough and headaches and also has antibacterial and antiviral properties. It helps in preventing cancer and other serious disorders and also helps in reducing inflammation in the body. Turmeric is also used in making many cosmetic face creams as it improves skin health. Coriander  A pack full of some rich health benefits, coriander is easily available and has a permanent place in almost all Indian dishes. You can add coriander seeds in your daily diet to have those health benefits. Coriander seeds are rich in antioxidants and dietary fiber and promote liver health and smoothen bowel movements. For patients with chronic indigestion, coriander leaves can be very beneficial if consumed daily. Chilli peppers Generally, chilli peppers are used to make the dish more spicy and delicious, but this Indian spice has some health benefits too. It helps in weight loss, lowers blood pressure and is a good source of vitamin C.

  6. Cinnamon  One of the most common Indian spices that you will see in almost every Indian household. Cinnamon is rich in antioxidants and also has anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to fight against bacteria and fungi and can also help to reduce tummy bloat. Cardamom  Cardamom is very rich in vitamin A and vitamin C and has also minerals such as calcium, iron, and Zinc. It is believed that regular consumption of cardamom can improve heart health, oral health, digestion and bowel movements. If you are suffering from diabetes, depression, asthma, and skin infections, cardamom should be included in your daily diet.  Fenugreek  Fenugreek seeds are mostly cultivated in North Africa, the Middle East, India and Egypt and have many health benefits. First and foremost, it is believed to increase libido in men. Fenugreek seeds can also improve digestion and reduce inflammation in the body. For breastfeeding women, fenugreek consumption improves milk flow.
