  2. What is Dual Credit? According to The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Dual Credit is a process by which a high school junior or senior enrolls in a college course and receives simultaneous academic credit for the course from both the college and the high school. While dual credit courses are often taught on the secondary school campus to high school students only, a high school student can also take a course on the college campus and receive both high school and college credit.

  3. Who should take Dual Credit? Students… • Students highly motivated and willing to work hard • Students who do NOT procrastinate • Students determined to graduate with college credits • Students okay with Pre-AP weighted English • Students who did not make a 3, 4, or 5 on junior year AP English exam (talk to your HS counselor)

  4. How to Enroll? • Juniors and Seniors with a 80 or higher GPA are eligible to participate in dual credit courses. • The High School Counseling Office will provide official student transcripts to TCC. • TCC Connect will come to the High School March 22nd and 23rd to help students completethe online application and administer the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA).

  5. How to Enroll? • Students will have an opportunity to take the TSI-A at Birdville HS (if the student is not exempt from testing). The TSI Assessment is the approved placement test used by educational institutions to assist in determining if a student is prepared for a college-level courses and to aid institutions in making course placement decisions. Students will take the Reading, Writing, and Math portions of the TSI-A.

  6. How to Enroll? • Immediately following the TSI-A, students will receive results to share with the Dual Credit Counselor. • All re-tests will take place at the TCC NE Campus Testing Center. • Students exempt from the TSI-A based on ACT/SATtest scores must submit an official copy of their scores to the TCC NE Campus Registrar’s Office.
