  4. Finances • The top most priority for studying abroad is the Finance. Whether it be tuition fee, stay, travel, food you need to have sufficient funds to fulfill your requirements and needs. Complete financial documents are required for the admission purpose and study visa. So, plan your finances well - either through savings or bank loans have the money handy.

  5. Research for Colleges • Once you know what you really want, look for colleges that fulfill your criteria. This is one essential and useful step you can take for yourself. It is very important to know what exactly each college is offering in terms of course, facilities, faculty and job opportunities. Research well! To do this you may attend education fairs organised by reputed agents, research the net, talk to a education counselor and so on.

  6. Documents • Studying abroad requires tons of documentation; whether it be the passport, university application forms, financial documents, academic performance documents, experiences letters, SOP, LOR’s, visa application forms, language proficiency documents, medical certificate etc. So make sure you start well in advance and are ready well in time with all these documents.

  7. Language Proficiency and Aptitude Tests • Almost all English countries require you to give the language proficiency test such as IELTS, PTE of TOEFL. Language Proficiency and Aptitude Tests are essential for admissions, visa and scholarships. Some countries may require the student to clear the SAT, GRE, GMAT depending on the course they have opt for or level of study they are planning to going for. So be prepared!

  8. Statement of Purpose (SOP) • When you express your desire to study in foreign universities, it is important to clearly let them know what your purpose of studying there is and how you are qualified to take up the course and why they should take you. All these things should be written in a document and sent to the university as well as the visa officers to consider you eligible for the course. So, be sure to present a well written and comprehensive statement of purpose; your chances for admission depend on it at lot. So, do not copy-paste the SOP or write it half-heartedly; rather give it everything you have and make it your best work.

  9. Letters of Recommendation(LOR) • Admission officers may look for the letters of recommendation from the student college professors or employers. Make sure that if you are planning to study abroad then you should have 2 or 3 Letters of Recommendation (LOR) ready before applying.

  10. Apply for Scholarships • Studying abroad is not cheap and sometimes you may struggle for finances; if it is the case with you look for scholarships, as many organisations and universities offer financial help depending on whether a student fulfills the criteria. So, do not hesitate to apply and do it early, as applying early increases your chances of securing a scholarship.

  11. Apply to the Colleges • Once the student is done with all the documents and finances the next step is to apply to the college before the deadline ends for a particular intake. They do not take any applications after the deadline is over. So make sure you apply before the deadline.

  12. Apply for Visa • Once you have got admission to any college the next step is to apply for visa. After you apply for it they will call you for a visa interview. So be well prepared for the visa interview. To prepare yourself well you can meet your visa counselor and they will help you get prepared.

  13. Stay & Travel • Once you have received your visa immediately make your travel plans. Book tickets well in advance to avoid high ticket prices. Also, arrange for a place to stay near the university. For this you can ask either the students who are there or the institutes themselves. They will help you find a place of your choice to stay.
