  3. What is a bibliography? • When you write a research report, you will use many different sources to get your information. You may find information in newspapers, magazines, and encyclopedias, as well as using the internet. • You must always give credit to those authors whose work you include in your paper. You can do this through the use of footnotes, and a BIBLIOGRAPHY page which is placed at the end of your report.

There are several different ways of formatting bibliography entries, but the examples in the following pages are typical of the most common styles. • Notice that the lines below the top line are indented. This is done to make it easier to identify each entry, as well as putting the entries in alphabetical order.

  5. When you are required to write a research paper, ask the teacher if he/she has a preferred format for bibliography entries. If the answer is yes, you should ask for examples of the required format. • Otherwise, the following examples should be followed:
