  1. BIRTHMARKS!SHOULD YOU REMOVE IT OR NOT? By:-

  2. Cindy Crawford, Marilyn Monroe, Angelina Jolie, Kate Upton, Scarlett Johansson, etc. all of these celebrities are famous for their work in their respective fields, and also for being some of the most beautiful and hottest faces of all time. However, no matter how stunning their looks might be, they are still human and part of being human is having imperfections. Birthmarks are just some of the many imperfections that nearly 80% of us are born with well since birth obviously. Even all of these celebs mentioned earlier have those, however, they just seem to rock those imperfections and use them to their advantage.

  3. Nevertheless, this might not be the case for everyone. Many of us might be having birthmarks that would rather be hindering our personality and have a negative effect on us as well as the people around us. As they say, the way you look does have an effect indirectly. With so many treatments and therapies available out there for birthmark removal, one may remain skeptical when making a decision. So, we are going to help you make this decision effectively and answer your questions about Birthmark: To Remove or Not to Remove

  4. BIRTHMARKS:- THEIR REASONS, AND TYPES Contrary to the popular belief (or myths), that they are angels kisses, beauty marks, or some sort of indication as to how you died in your past life (Yes, some people do believe that) birthmarks are in fact none of those. According to many skin specialists and researchers, Birthmarks are just some sort of discoloration, spot, or bump that is, formed on the skin during infancy. They can appear anywhere on the body or the face and are mostly non-cancerous. Their size, colour, the appearance may vary greatly from person to person and some of them may grow on the skin over time. Although most of the birthmarks are, known to fade away after some time, some

  5. may stay even in adulthood. Most of the birthmarks are completely harmless, however, in some conditions, there is a chance of some underlying skin condition to cause problems. According to some researchers, the reasons for a birthmark to form maybe, related to the shoddy movement of cells during the development of the foetus. However, the reasons as to why some babies are born with birthmarks, and some are not, are still unclear. There might be instances, where birthmarks are, inherited and usually are, found to run in families for a long time. In very rare cases, gene mutation also is a reason that causes birthmarks to form, and these types of birthmarks cannot be, inherited.

  6. Although there are many different types of birthmarks all of them can be categorized into mainly two categories: Vascular Birthmarks, and Pigmented Birthmarks. Vascular birthmarks are, formed when the blood vessels in a particular part of the skin are, not structured the way they should have. They are usually, formed in places where too many blood vessels are clustered together or they are wider than normal. Pigments are responsible for the colour of your skin when there is an abundance of them in one region of your skin than another; this gives rise to the Pigmented birthmarks.

  7. Different types of pigmented birthmarks include moles, Café au lait spots, and Mongolian blue spots. Each of them has its own distinguishing characteristics. For example, Café au lait spots look similar to having milk mixed with coffee, hence, the name. These spots are usually, formed during infancy or later in childhood. Some children may have many of these spots, which can be, linked to the medical condition known as neurofibromatosis. Salmon patches, Hemangiomas, and port wine stains are some of the vascular types of birthmarks. Port-wine stains are usually, formed on the skin, due to the improper formation of the blood vessels. They can appear as pink or red during the initial stages and become darker with time if untreated and develop a bumpy, pebbled texture. In some cases, the birthmarks may also form on eyelids; this should be, immediately treated to avoid further complications.

  8. THE REMOVAL OF BIRTHMARK! Should we get rid of our birthmarks? Is a question that many of you might have probably one of the reasons you are still reading this blog too. Now, one thing that you should remember is that birthmarks by nature are actually completely harmless to your health, except in some cases of hemangiomas and moles, which have been, linked to an increased risk of carcinoma. In most cases, a birthmark removal procedure is, done due to cosmetic reasons. As discussed earlier, birthmarks can be formed anywhere on the skin and their appearance can be greatly varying. Depending on where they are, formed, and how large their influence is a person’s looks and personality can be, affected in different ways. There are many different types of birthmark removal procedures that can be, performed. Laser therapy, Beta-blockers, Corticosteroids, and surgery are some of the common options.

  9. Laser therapy is one of the most common options which people go for when considering birthmark removal. Laser removals are helpful in lightening or at least making the port-wine-stains type of birthmarks less visible. You may need to undergo this procedure several times, for optimal results. A local anaesthetic is also, administered to minimize any discomfort the patient may encounter during the therapy, although, it is a completely painless procedure. The results due to this procedure are permanent and the patient may not require any further therapies or procedures. Beta-blockers are one of the topical or oral remedies that can be, used to reduce the influence of hemangiomas or moles. This is one of those methods, which works slowly but has a good effect. Beta-blockers can be, applied directly to the skin or consumed orally, to reduce the size and appearance of these birthmarks. Corticosteroids are also remedies of a similar type.

  10. Surgeries are another common type of treatment administered for birthmark removal. They are usually, performed on adults, who have cases of very deep hemangiomas, or moles that can harm the skin tissue. Just like laser treatments, this procedure also requires an anaesthetic and may require several appointments too. Although most of these procedures are painless, there can be a mild pain experienced by the patients, post-surgery that would fade away in some time. The recovery period is also quick in all of the procedures with almost no side effects or pain. Some patients may experience stinging or burning after laser treatments, although, it will probably fade away in about 5-6 hours. Surgical treatments, on the other hand, may have a recovery period from anywhere between 3 days to a week, in which the part of the skin which had been treated should be kept completely dry, and should not come in contact with the sun.

  11. WHAT WILL BE THE COST? The cost of the treatments varies based on many different factors, such as the severity, skin sensitivity, type of treatment, etc. However, in general, laser therapies cost just a bit more than others, however, given the benefits it turns out to be a much better option to choose.

  12. THE FINAL CONCLUSION IS HERE! After having a detailed overview of the anatomy of a birthmark, its different types, and the different treatments available for their removal, the question of whether to opt for a birthmark removal treatment or not boils down to a moral decision in most cases. Most of the people who decide to undergo the treatments are concerned about their birthmarks hindering their looks, and in such cases, the birthmarks do really have a negative impact on their self-confidence and social interactions. If a surgical treatment can improve your personality and looks, and give you the much-needed confidence to live a happy social life without any hindrance you should definitely opt for getting rid of your birthmark permanently. In some situations, if the birthmarks have led to some other medical conditions, then it is always advisable to consider treating it properly.
