Temperatures can range from -100° to 300°C in some varieties. • General Suitability Because silicon is non-toxic and dermatologically acceptable, it is appropriate for use in medical device and equipment assembly. Silicon O-rings are not suitable for dynamic applications due to their low strength, poor abrasion resistance, and high gas permeability.

Aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene), aromatic mineral oil, acids, alkalis, superheated water, or steam above 250 degrees Fahrenheit all destroy silicon O-rings.
