  1. Mahavir Jayanti & Good Friday Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of a great sage who taught the world the essence of “Unity of Life”. Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor at all the Jain temples all over the country. Lord Mahavira is said to be the founder of Jainism and laid down the principles of Jainism. Lord Mahavira left his kingdom to seek greater truth and attain Nirvana. His saying was a lot similar to the sayings like you reap what you sow and what goes around comes around. The difference is that mahavira insisted that we have to reap the seeds of what we did in our past life also. The individuals who face hardships in the current life is actually the result of the wrongdoings of the past life. On this day, everybody tries to remember the teachings of Lord Mahavira and also make promise that nobody will hurt any living being in the future knowingly and unknowingly. The struggles and hardships faced by Lord Mahavira portray how great his individuality and his personality were. Good Friday is developed from an older name “God’s Friday”. It is appropriate because the suffering and death of Jesus marked the dramatic culmination of God’s plan to save his people from their sins. Good Friday is celebrated as the anniversary of Jesus’ death on the cross. It was God’s own doing – a sharp, prophetic jab at a

  2. time and a culture obsessed by happiness. Good Friday calls to a jarring halt the sacred “pursuit of happiness” as to pursue happiness, we must first experience sorrow. “He who goes sowing tears returns in joy”. Good Friday recalls for us the greatness and wonder of God’s love. The dayis called “GOOD” but “GREAT” or “HOLY” Friday. Good Friday has challenged merely human goodness. It’s sad commemoration reminds us that in the face of sin, our goodness avails nothing.
