  1. Designing Effective Visual Communication

  2. Every other person likes vivid imagery and the combination of colors which holds their attention. More often than not an effective presentation will make the correct use of the visual aids available to the speaker. With that in mind let’s look at some tips to enhance your design and visual communicationsperformance.

  3. Color • Nobody wants a mixed pallet of too many colors. Ideally use no more than 5 colors in a single layout. Use colors to only highlight the most important information.

  4. Fonts • All fonts should appear visible and clear to the naked eye. Special attention should be given to specific words by highlighting them.

  5. A Logical Structure • A presentation is really like telling a story so make sure that you follow a logical sequence, and that the parts of your presentation are interlinked.

  6. Data • Too much data or the use of jargons can really confuse the audience, and hence it’s usually a good idea to illustrate the key points followed by an explanation.

  7. Simplicity Above All Else • It’s a good idea to keep the pre4sentation as simple as possible. In this way nearly everybody can understand the point you are trying to make.
