A child’s prayer Above the stars are shining, casting shadows upon the snow, A little child is praying, with his little head bowed low, And his two hands together as he kneels and says prayer Tiny tears are falling on his teddy bear, He said,  Dear Jesus I must ask you, please tell me the reason why, My daddy had to leave me; it hurt and made me cry. These nights I cannot rest Because to me my dad’s the very best At school my friends all tease me as they play their silly games At times I feel the emptiness, at times am sick with shame When I would rather have my daddy to hold, to love and care. Dear Jesus, if you can hear me as I kneel here all alone, Would you please give my daddy a message and a star to guide him home.
