Two of the materials that designer handles are made of are stainless steel and bronze. And, both have their advantages and disadvantages. Let us explore some of these now.
Stainless steel door handles tend to provide a more modern, contemporary look to your home while bronze pull handles provide a softer, more rustic look to your home. Part of this difference is that stainless steel tends to have a higher shine whereas bronze has a duller, softer finish. Both bronze and stainless steel are alloys which mean they are both mixtures of other metals. The fact that they are both alloys gives both types of door handles a remarkable strength and durability. However, bronze and stainless steel are each made of different metals. Stainless steel is always an iron alloy whereas bronze is often alloyed with tin or aluminum. What this means for you is that stainless steel door handles might be a tiny smidge tougher than bronze door handles but, the bronze is easier to work with thus allowing for many more different shapes and textures than are available in stainless steel.
If you decide to install bronze door handlesor bronze pull handlesinstead of stainless steel ones, do not worry. Bronze is every bit as strong and easy to maintain as stainless steel because it is made with tin or aluminum, both of which are incredibly strong metals. And, because tin and aluminum are so much more malleable than steel, you can often find bronze door handles in more styles. No matter what you decide in the final stages of your remodeling plans, know that either type of handle – bronze or stainless steel- have a lot of good qualities and, your final decision will really come down to the look you want for your home.
