Right staff, right patient, right time! • How does the capture of right information for quality also benefit staffing mix and identify patient acuity? • Does IT really help improve patient safety?

Staffing Effectively • Staffing for activity and workload units at the time they occur allows more efficiency as well as appropriate staffing based on patient needs • This means staffing for the workload and real patient needs rather than maintaining a nurse: patient ratio • Flexibility in adjusting staffing based on workloads is needed at the unit level

  14. Does IT improve quality? • Real time information • Protocols and standards at the caregivers fingertips • Reminders, nothing forgotten! • Evidence based practice driven throughout the system • Right staff with the right skill mix at the right time for every patient
