  2. I-AM Mission Statement: • To train and equip young adults to effectively share their faith and God’s love. • “To send forth laborers into His harvest.” Luke 10:2

  3. WHAT IS I-AM MINISTRY?

  4. An outreach and mission ministry for high school and college age youth • A pilot program under NOW District Expanding Ministries Program

  5. I-AM Program Goals: • To teach youth how to articulate their Faith • To provide groups of trained mission volunteers to LCMS Congregations and Mission Organizations. • To provide a mission experience for participants • To promote ministry as a career to young adults by assisting them to identify their own personal and spiritual strengths and provide them with information regarding LCMS, North West District and University opportunities.

  6. Young adults and adult team leaders first participate in basic relational evangelism and mission trip training.

  7. Volunteer Training: Training will include: • Recognizing our spiritual gifts • Telling YOUR story • Principles of effective communication • Preparing for the journey (mission trip & life) • Building relationships • Small Group concepts • Prayer

  8. Volunteers then get hands on practice by participating in an actual mission trip.

  9. Mission Trip • Mission trips will start each Spring. Actual mission activity and location will be determined by number of youth volunteers, adult team leaders, and finances raised for each trip. • Youth and adult team leaders will be expected to cover the expenses for their training and mission trip.

  10. Possible Mission Activities: • Vacation Bible Schools • Sports Camps • Day Camps • Hammer & Nail Projects • Other servant events

  11. An example of a mission trip . . . . . . . .Youth participating with a team of 10 volunteers for Alaska Mission for Christ by helping with a Vacation Bible School in Wasilla, Alaska in 2001.

  13. Other opportunities: • I-AM is a liaison for Christian organizations seeking to experience a mission trip or servant event. • I-AM can assist churches or organizations by providing groups of trained volunteers and adult leaders to support their mission and outreach programs.

  14. This ministry works in cooperation with Alaska Mission for Christ (AMC), Northwest District, Lutheran Congregations, Cross Country Mission Society, and other Mission Orgenizations.

  15. WHY PARTICIPATE: • Serve, teach, and reach! There is a need! Matthew 9:37 “Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” • Live out the Great Commission!Matthew 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations. . .” • You will be blessed because you did! Recognize and learn to use your spiritual gifts!Psalm118:29 “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”

HOW TO GET INVOLVED! • Encourage young adults 16 or older • to participate in I-AM Ministry. • Volunteer as an adult team leader • for a mission event. • Sponsor a youth, donate funds for individual youth • scholarships, or donate to support mission trip • expenses • Pray for I-AM ministry, those involved, and • the mission events
