  2. WJEC Provision • June 2010: Latin Lang Core papers (a.m. 7 June) • Jan 2011: Core, Add Language, Rom Civ Written Papers (Dates to follow) • June 2011 (and June thereafter): All units, inc. Controlled Assessments • Jan 2012 (and Jan thereafter): Latin Lang Core papers only • Subject Awards first available June 2011, thereafter Jan and June

Regulations • Level 1 and 2 units may both be taken in the same series (within same timetable slot) • But Level 1 and 2 cannot be aggregated • One re-sit per unit/level (like GCSE) – better result to count • Controlled Assessment set as option against Written Paper (i.e. cannot both be taken in same series) • Rom Civ and Latin Lit Controlled Assessment may be completed this year and retained for submission in 2011 (topics/titles must be approved)

  4. Funding and Performance Measures (league tables) • Classification Codes • Latin Lang/Rom Civ (and GCSE Latin) = 6610 • Latin Lit (and GCSE Classical Civ) = 6530 • Best result will count in each case • Level 1 and 2 Points (will appear on NDAQ)

  5. Recognition by HE etc. Thank you for your email. Your students would not be disadvantaged by earning two Level 2 Certificates in Latin Language and Latin Literature, rather than GCSEs.  We can confirm that the A or A* grades in Latin Language and Latin Literature at Level 2 will be viewed in the same way as the same grades in two GCSEs. I asked one of the Chairs of the Medical Group at the University of Cambridge for their views and they advised that the Level 2 Certificates would indeed be viewed as the same as GCSEs and that provided they achieve the GCSE requirements for Medicine, there should not be an issue.  You can see the GCSE requirements for Medicine at  www…….

  6. WJEC Entry Systems • 21 Feb (amendments by 21 March) for June series • 21 Oct for January series • Cash-in entry as well as unit entries needed in due course • Fees – per unit (£12.78 in 2010)

  7. Results • Grades A* - C at both Level 1 and Level 2 • But ‘Unclassified’ below C • Unit results reported on results slip (lower case letter grades for units, upper case letter grades for certificates) • And as UMS mark (/100 for Core Lang; /50 for other units)
