  2. Emergency Committee to Save the Persecuted and Enslaved (ECSPE) attempted rape. Asiya, who works as a maid to support her family, was attacked by two Muslim men, Azeem Jameel and Atif Jameel, as she was returning home from work. The assailants attempted to drag Asiya to a nearby warehouse, but she fiercely resisted their advances. In the struggle, Asiya suffered severe injuries, including a broken hand and fingers, as the men beat her with rods. Despite the brutal assault, Asiya managed to fight back and escape when some villagers noticed the commotion. Asiya’s father, Shahzad Masih, is a poor kiln worker who has been raising his children alone since his wife’s death a few years ago. Asiya and one of her brothers still live with their father, while two other siblings are married. Action And Police Delay: After the attack, Asiya’s uncle immediately took her to the police station, where an FIR (First Information Report) was filed against the offenders. However, despite the severity of the crime, the police did not arrest the accused, who subsequently obtained bail from the court. This case emphasizes the ongoing challenges faced by religious minorities in Pakistan, especially Christian girls and women, who are frequent targets of violence and discrimination.
