  2. If you plan to visit Tanzania for a safari in Serengeti it is only right that you also attempt to climb the Kilimanjaro. The mountain is 5895 meters tall, the highest in Africa and certainly not for the faint of heart. If you are in good physical shape you can get your local tour operator who specializes in Kilimanjaro climbing expeditions to help you out.

  3. The local tour operator is your best friend. He knows the climbing route, all the difficulties that one will encounter and how much time it will take to reach the top. The climb is best attempted between January and March or between June and October when it dry.

  4. Before you do that you have to take care of travel arrangements and payment of fees to make the climb. Your tour operator makes all the necessary arrangements for the best Mount Kilimanjaro tours and trips including food, water, camping equipments, porters and schedules.

  5. The Machame route is scenic and most popular and ensures success but it is difficult and trails are crowded with climbers. It costs less and there are more chances of succeeding in reaching the top.

  6. The Rongai route is perhaps the easiest one from the north. It is also less crowded and it is dry. You climb up from one side and descend from the other side so you have a very good view. However, it can cost more.

  7. The Shira route, likewise, is more expensive and lengthy but it is more scenic and difficult as well. The route blends with the Machame route as you progress.
