  5. Two Basic Uses: • To develop information about a new teacher’s competence for determining instructional improvement activities • To develop information for decisions about the new teacher’s qualifications to make a certification recommendationbased on Louisiana teaching standards (LCET)

  11. Rating Scale 2 - Competent • Performance meets established standards. Improvement can be made, but current practices are clearly acceptable. 1 - Needs Improvement • Performance is sometimes inadequate or unacceptable. Improvement is required. NO - Not Observed • Performance was not observed in up to three particular attributes.

Assessment Standards for Certification Revised Standard • Fall 2007: Competent 2 rating on all 11 Components= 1 Planning, 3 Management, 4 Instruction, 1 Professional Dev, and 2 School Improvement Teachers not meeting standards • 2 years to meet standards • 2 year wait period, complete professional growth • 2 years to meet standards again or may no longer teach in Louisiana public schools
