  3. The 4 Ps of Marketing • The 4 Ps of “Marketing Mix” comprise four key elements – Product, Price, Place and Promotion- and they are used to market a product or service. • Successful marketers and businesses typically consider the four Ps when creating marketing plans and strategies to market to their target audience effectively. • The four Ps are product, price, place, and promotion. 4. 4 Ps explained • Product Product – Creating a marketing campaign starts with understanding the product itself. Who needs it, and why? Marketer defines the product and its qualities and introduces it to the consumer. The product type also dictates how much it will cost, where it should be placed and how it should be promoted. • Price Price - Price is the amount consumers will be willing to pay for a product. Marketers must link the price to the product's real and perceived value to pay for a product. In some cases, business decision- makers may raise the price of a product to give it the appearance of luxury or exclusivity. Or, they may lower the price so more consumers will try it. • Place Place - It considers where the product should be available in brick-and-mortar stores and online and how it will be displayed. The term placement also refers to advertising the product in suitable media to get the attention of target consumers. • Promotion Promotion - Promotion encompasses advertising, public relations, and the overall media strategy for introducing a product. Later, the 3 Ps were added, i.e. People, Packaging and Process. To develop the marketing mix, the companies consider how each Ps affects the rest to create a unified brand experience for their consumers.
