  1. VOLUNEERING - STEP TO THE FUTURE IN ALCALÁ LA REAL Julia Ziach

  2. ALCALÁ LA REAL Alcalá la Real is a Spanish city and municipality in the province of Jaén, Andalusia. It is located in the southwestern part of the province, bordering the provinces of Granada and Córdoba. It is inhabited by more than 21,000 residents.

  3. ABOUT THE PROJECT Host organization VerdeSur is helping two other organizations: Asociación de Personas con Discapacidad Álamos - which helps children with various disabilities - and the Red Cross.

  4. MY ACTIVITIES My duties included taking care of children (mostly between the ages 4 and 7) at summer schools, playing with them, helping with activities (such as art), going to the local pool with them and helping with food distribution in school cafeteria.

  5. MY FREE TIME After work I still had a lot of free time, which I mainly spent with the rest of the volunteers. We went to bars together, had fun at the EtnoSur festival, and watched soccer games.

  6. One of the best parts were travels. In 2 months I visited many places such as Cordoba, Malaga, Oviedo, Almeria, Granada and Alicante. TRAVELS Malaga Granada Cordoba Oviedo

  7. WHAT I GAIN FROM THE PROJECT -Many wonderful friends -Experience with working with children -An opportunity to experience life abroad -Improvement of my Spanish skills -Self-confidence
