DSYW Curriculumdevelopments Grove Academy Our Values: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Determination S2 IDL • Computer games development – English, CS, Music, A&D, BS • Hospitality and Tourism -HE, English, Drama (audio file for Unicorn) and Geog • D&A College for taster sessions over 5 week block S3 Masterclasses Employability Focus – i.e. Creative Industries in Music S4 KIKO employability transition program for pupils with challenging backgrounds

S5/6 Grove Academy Our Values: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Determination • Plumbing/ Electrical pathway experience - all in positive destinations – stolen by DCC “Future Skills College” Model could work quite easily anywhere  (12) • Fitness Industry Training Academy (FITA) - life guard and Fitness instructor qualifications - nationally recognised - pupils move into direct employment (12) • Coaching Academy- SFA and national coaching qualifications, Referee training (16) • Advanced Engineering Program - NCR involvement and supported by RGU– project based learning – Academic paper

S5/6 Grove Academy Our Values: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Determination • Hospitality Placements/ Training program via APEX  (S5/6 2 girls – Mon/Wed pm) – part time jobs - extremely high chance of Modern Apprenticeships • NPAs in Computer Games Design and Cyber Security – 38 pupils last year - Now only Cyber - 19, games coming back. Working with schools in USA and with Microsoft

S5/6 Electives Grove Academy Our Values: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Determination Electives program ( 2 periods a week for all S5/6) 4 blocks of 7 weeks, Some single blocks and some whole year. Personalisation and Choice: • Employability aspects – • Barista training (inc work placement) • Getting the Job (including numerous employers) • Presentation and communication skills (Drama dept) • Work experience placements, Hospitality certification (incl Food Hygiene and Customer Service Qualification – HE plus link to college) • Advertising Photography (A&D) • Digital Leaders –Microsoft expert.

Digital Leaders Grove Academy Our Values: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Determination Future delivery of CPD by Digital Leaders (GD’s group on electives) for staff  -they will identify CPD session to staff on One-Note – as E portfolio will be on this Support for staff from Digital Leaders – to support staff with IT/OneNote Establishment of Grove Genius Bar  - Digi Leaders will man it at lunchtime, pupils and staff come for advice on issues

S5/6 Electives 2 Grove Academy Our Values: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Determination Wellbeing aspects - PE options - Trampolining, Football, Volleyball, Sailing, Golf, Fitness, Tennis, Badminton, Dance, Outdoor Ed, Basketball, Sports Acro, Safety on-line: Cyber Security Baccalaureate Support Wider Achievement- Peer Support, Volunteering, Leadership SQA Award, RME Values in Action, Online Courses (13) (OU, Future Learn, Coursera, etc.)

Future Developments for 18/19 Grove Academy Our Values: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Determination S4:Creation of pathways -initial focus on Hospitality and Construction sectors - College are biting and outwith DCC knowledge – Apex and other hotels involved. S4: Pilot new SQA Pre-apprenticeship group award S1-6: Creation of Grove Academy Employability Portolios to replace E-Portfolios S1-6: Embedding of employability skills across the curriculum Establishment of Grove Business Advisory Group – Review of Curriculum Rationale and engagement of partners in this process

Future Developments for 18/19 Grove Academy Our Values: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Determination • S6: Model for future development (based on AdvEnginProg) • Journalism Academy (DC Thomson) • Coffee Social Enterprise. Pupils gain gold Cresta award. • Life sciences – BioDundee (collection of small scale employers in life sciences) Computer programming with Biology and statistics
