  2. The French invaded Algeria in 1830. French killed about one third of the Algerian population which was about 1 million people. The French invaded Algeria for the land. Once the French finally conquered the last Tuareg, ten thousand settlers moved into Algeria to farm the Algerian coastal plain.

  3. Taken over in 1832 Independence was gained in July of 1962 The takeover was started by King Charles X on the last days of Bourbon Restoration Why Did They Take Over?

  4. The French slaughtered civilians as they raided Algeria. • The French killed one million Algerians, which was about one third of the Algerian population. • The French pursued a policy of extermination against the Algerians.

  5. The war was one that consisted of many different techniques: Guerilla Warfare, Maquis Fighting, and Terrorism towards citizens on both sides of the fighting Removal of the Powers
