By physically attaching two different metals on end of the watlow thermocouple, the junction between the two metals produces a certain voltage at specific temperatures when it is heated or cooled. This voltage output from the watlow thermocouple can be translated to a temperature measurement for the temperature controller to use for regulating the process temperature.
