  1. FIRE SAFETY MEASURES 1. Building Access & Emergency Evacuation Routes Open spaces in buildings are one of the most essential fire safety measures for fire prevention and management. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), require doors, windows, and all access into and out of your buildings is continually clear so occupants can use emergency evacuation routes to get out easily, and the fire department can get in. SUBMITTED TO : 2. Fire Safety Exit Signs & Fire Alarms As important as unblocked exits are to fire safety, people finding the exits is an equally important safety measure in your buildings. NFPA 101 requires exit signage and lighting be continually illuminated and easily seen, even in a power outage. Exit signs must be bright and free from obstruction, emergency lighting units functional, and exit signs and lighting backup batteries should be fully charged and reliable. 3. Placing Fire Extinguisher Choosing fire extinguisher types for the relevant class of fire could literally be the difference between life and death. So here’s a useful guide on how to choose the right type and class of fire extinguisher for the appropriate scenario, including colour codes, fire classes and uses. HOW TO USE : Pull: Pull the pin to break the tamper seal. Aim: Aim low, pointing the nozzle or hose at the base of the fire. Squeeze: Squeeze the handle to release the extinguishing agent. Placing Fire Hose A fire hose is a very high pressure hose that is used to take water to a fire. It may also carry fire retardant materials. Fire hoses can be attached to either a fire engine or a fire hydrant, and the pressure is between 800 and 2000 kPa. Drying of fire hoses after use is very important because water that is left in a hose can cause deterioration. As a result, fire houses have large structures designed to dry out the hoses. 4. Installing Sprinkler System Fire sprinklers are devices that spray water to suppress and combat fires. They are part of a fire sprinkler system, which is an active fire protection method. A fire sprinkler system consists of a water supply system that provides adequate pressure and flowrate, a water distribution piping system, and fire sprinklers that are connected to it. Fire sprinkler systems are common in industrial and commercial buildings. 2 MAIN TYPE OF SPRINK?ER Wet Pipe Sprinkler System This is the most common one. Water is constantly present in the pipes, and when a sprinkler head is activated by heat from a fire, the water immediately discharges onto the flames. Dry Pipe Sprinkler System In areas where freezing temperatures can occur, a dry pipe system is used. Compressed air or nitrogen fills the pipes, and when a sprinkler head is activated, the air is released, allowing the water to flow and extinguish the fire.
