  1. Teacher Quality Enhancement Grant: Area VI: Cross Institutional Articulation • Vision – Develop policies that facilitate • the articulation of pre-teacher education programs with teacher education programs and • 2) the predictable transfer of teacher education students into baccalaureate programs while meeting the requirements for high-quality education programs. In so doing, the quality of teacher education state wide will be improved.

  2. Vehicle for Development and Implementation Collaboration among the Iowa Department of Education and 2 and 4-year institutions through cooperative work sessions and other activities.

  3. Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) Entry requirements: Acceptance of competency tests for entrance Min. GPA Profile of competencies for entrance into a teacher education program (pedagogy) Profile of competencies for entrance into a teacher education program: oral/written communication skills and mathematics skills Profile of dispositions (dispositions team) Talking Points

  4. Maryland Model • Student requirements for attaining the AAT include: • Obtaining 60 credits of lower division course work in the arts and sciences to satisfy the NCATE standards • Taking courses on educational psychology, special education and educational theory • Maintaining a 2.75 GPA • Passing the reading, writing, and math proficiency tests • Developing a portfolio • Completing the field experience requirements

  5. AA Articulation Agreement between the Regent Institutions and the Community Colleges in Iowa (1981) • 60 hrs. min. of transfer courses • Gen. Ed. Courses distributed as • communications – 8 sem. Hrs. • humanities – 8 sem. Hrs. • mathematics & science – 8 sem. Hrs. (at least one course in each • social science – 8 sem. Hrs. • distributed requirements – 8 sem. Hrs. taken from among the above four divisions • Min. GPA 2.0
