It was a little slower back then for companies to gain traction in their chosen market with the average time being around six months or so. Nowadays, with the rise of technology and the “age of twitter”, a new company can instantly become successful overnight all based on their social media presence. What Does This Mean? Technology in PR has seriously changed roles, and cannot be ignored. A good PR tactic will incorporate more traditional PR tactics (such as approaching mainstream media and companies) with technology PR. Depending on what industry your business is in, it is essential that you have an online presence, or else you are not considered ‘credible’. You also want a way to reach as many people as possible, and using technology is the perfect way to do so.

You want to be able to use the technology in such way that it will achieve as much influence as possible. You also want to increase visibility on your brand and your reputation. Using social media can help you engage with potential customers, and to build relationships with them. You can even use it as part of your overall customer experience. Just think about how many people tweet businesses when they want to complain about a product, or even to sing praises about it. Some companies go as far as use social media (such as Twitter) as part of their customer service. Many banks and airlines allow people to contact them about questions on services and products.
