  1. Weight Maintenance Is Required Before Tackling a Weight Loss Program The secret is learning the types of food you should be eating. The main thing you need to focus on is carbs. Now, I'm not saying to stop eating carbs altogether, just learn the right types of carbs to eat. There are 2 different types of carbs: low glycemic index (low GI), and high glycemic index (high GI). The glycemic index rates carbs based on the effect they have on our blood sugar. A High GI carb injects a large amount of sugar into the blood all at once and then stops. This doesn't last very long, which leaves you lacking in energy and causes you to be hungry again much sooner. A low GI carb slowly injects sugar into the blood stream, which keeps you energized and full for much longer.
