  1. PetaSHA Visualization Gaining Scientific Insight (HOW?) Amit ChourasiaSan Diego Supercomputer Center Jan 12th, 2007

  2. Distillation & Concoction How can visual methods impact beyond diagnostics? Feature Detection Techniques Couple Velocity model with Wave Propagation Tie Fault Rupture and Wave Propagation Quality not Quantity – Viz is a human endeavor You and me can only take so much

  3. Stylization Mode of visualization desired Need for Volumetric Viz? Requires Large Memory Nodes (64 GB) Surface visualization could be standardized Other Techniques – Topography, etc

  4. Examination What level of hands on desirability? Real-time? Web Portal? Batch Bake?

  5. System Desirable features for Visualization system Replicability – no doubt Automation? Scalability? Reliability? User Friendliness???

  6. Education What are suitable Outreach and Dissemination modes? Websites – visservices, SCEC, etc Google Earth Microsoft Virtual Earth, etc

  7. Needs • Large no of SU’s on a balanced machine for Volumetric viz • Personnel support for specialized development • Some hardware infrastructure (servers, disk, etc) • Some Off-the-Shelf Software (Movie encoding, etc) People: Steve Cutchin, Amit Chourasia, Yifeng Cui, Reagan Moore, Jing Zhu Jurgen Schulze (Calit2) ?
