  1. Career and Professional Education Academies Registration Tutorial

  2. Purpose • To identify Career and Professional Academies operating in 2008-2009 as established by sections 1003.493 and 1011.62(q), Florida Statutes. SBE 6A-6.0573 • Districts may be eligible for additional funding in 2009-2010 based on students enrolled in 2008-2009. Only students from eligible career and professional academies will be eligible to generate bonus FTE.

  3. Components of Registration • Seven Sections • Academy Information • Academy Elements • Academy Type • Funding-Eligible Industry Certifications • CTE Program Information • Certifications Earned in 2008-2009 • Contact Information • Pay attention to informational items that are noted in GREEN.

  4. Important Notes • Registration must be complete by September 15, 2008 • There are two steps to complete the registration process: • Step One – District Input • Step Two – Verification/Finalization by Superintendent or Designee • Each step requires a separate Username and Password.

  6. District Log In • Enter District User Name and Password

  8. Section I – Academy Information • Input of information • District (pre populated) • School (select from dropdown menu) • Academy Name (input required) • Address particulars (input required) Academy Structure • Select Only One • School within a School • Wall to Wall

  9. Grade Level of Students • Select Only One • 9-12 • 10-12 • 11-12 • 12 2008-2009 Estimated Enrollments • Input Required • Estimated number of enrollments for 08-09

Section II – Academy Elements • Per section. 1003.493, F.S. • 13 Check off boxes • In order to be considered a registered Career and Professional Education (CAPE) Academy and eligible for additional funding, each of the criteria in s. 1003.493, F.S., must be met and checked off. • A green check mark will appear beside academy element if properly selected.

  11. Section III– Academy Type • Select Only One • Career and Professional Academy that offers at least one industry certification on the 2008-2009 Industry Certification Funding List through enrollment in Secondary CTE courses. • Career and Professional Academy that offers industry certification(s) on the 2008-2009 Industry Certification Funding List through dual enrollment only. • Career and Professional Academy that offers coursework leading to an industry certification on the Comprehensive Industry Certification List but not on the 2008-2009 Industry Certification Funding List.NOTE: Please skip Section IV.

  12. Section IV– Funding-Eligible Industry Certifications • Select all that Apply • Scroll to view the list. For multiple selections, hold down the Ctrl key (PC) or the Command key (Mac) while clicking the desired selections. To un-select, hold down the Ctrl key (PC) or the Command key (Mac) and click on the undesired selections. • Your selections will be displayed in Red below the scroll box.

  13. Section V– Secondary CTE Programs • Select all that Apply • Scroll to view the list. For multiple selections, hold down the Ctrl key (PC) or the Command key (Mac) while clicking the desired selections. To un-select, hold down the Ctrl key (PC) or the Command key (Mac) and click on the undesired selections. • Your selections will be displayed in Red below the scroll box.

  14. Section VI – Certifications Earned • Input Required • Provide an estimate of the number of industry certifications that may be earned in 2008-2009 by students in the academy.

  15. Section VII – Contact Information • Input Required • Provide information about who to contact should questions arise about the registration data. • Name • Title • E-mail • Phone Number (xxx-xxx-xxxx) • Fax Number (xxx-xxx-xxxx)

  16. Submit Step One • Click on Submit Step One • If successful, your application will close and return to the Main Menu, displaying this message: Step One of the CAPE Registration process is complete.  To FINALIZE Registration, Step Two must be completed by the Superintendent or designee using a separate Username and Password. • Errors or missing information will get this message: Data not saved. PLEASE FIX ERRORS IN RED AND RESUBMIT

  18. Superintendent Log In • Enter User Name and Password - Not the same as the District Username and Password

  20. Reviewing Record • Click on Pencil Icon to open record for review, or • Click on Printer Icon to print record for review.

  21. Individual Final Submit • Click on Pencil Icon to open record. • Review, making any edits if needed. • The bottom of application displays • Click on: • Registration will close and return to Main Menu ATTENTION! Information cannot be edited after final submission. Please review your information prior to finalizing. Once your submission is final a notification will automatically be sent to Yvette Hargreaves indicating that your survey has been completed. By registering, your district is certifying that these academies meet the statutory requirements of the Florida Career and Professional Education Act. Final Submit

  22. Individual Final Submission • Pencil and Delete Icons disappear • Date and Time of Final Submission appear

  23. Bulk – Final Submit • After reviewing submission(s) – return to the Main Menu

  24. Bulk – Final Submit • Click final submit box next to academy that has been reviewed/verified.

  25. Bulk – Final Submit • Click on save to finalize submission.

  26. Individual Final Submission • Pencil and Delete Icons disappear • Date and Time of Final Submission appear

  27. Finalizing Step Two • Locks Record and prevents further edits* *The record may be released from DOE upon request. • ALL edits to released records are still subject to the September 15th deadline.
