Most people fail, for all kinds of reasons. Let's look at five ways to fire off your weight loss program correctly and maximize your chances of success. Have reasonable goals. Too many people decide something like, "I'm going to lose 50 pounds by summer" and fail miserably to lose any weight. A more reasonable goal would be to look better in your bathing suit or look better naked. If you lose that 50 pounds, great! If you only lose 10 pounds, well that is significant too and you will look better for sure. To help achieve your goals, obviously you'll need to eat better. The eating habits that got you over weight will not get you thin. Start by getting rid of temptations around the house and office. Throw that junk food away, just get rid off it! If you constantly hit candy and chips machines at work, then get rid of all that spare change in your desk that makes it easy. Have healthy food around. That might include carrot sticks and other healthy munchies if you are a snacker. Basically, you want foods that fit in with your diet to be around and convenient to eat so that you are less tempted by bad foods. You will need to exercise, period. Just diet alone will not cut it. If you are aiming at summer, this should be easy as many of us are naturally more active as it warms up. For example, I went for a short walk with my kids and played street hockey with them today, a nice early spring day. You will need some activity, whether you call it "exercise" or not.
