  1. Why Do You Need Voltage Converters? Voltage converters are a must for people who like traveling abroad. You never have to worry about damaging your electronic devices when you carry a voltage converter in your luggage. Wherever you go, you need a dependable voltage converter to utilize all your devices outside the US. To understand the necessity of a voltage converter, you must first understand voltage supplies and how they differ from country to country. The voltage supply refers to the amount of charge that the national grid provides to normal residential and commercial outlets. If you do not know your country’s voltage rating, just look at the socket of any electronic product you have. It will probably show information on the voltage supply it needs. For countries like the US, you need a 120V supply. Some countries may use 100 to 110V, while others have a higher voltage output of 220V to 240V. Generally speaking, you can use a product with a required 120V input voltage on a 100 to 110V system without any trouble. But you should never plug a 120V electronic device into a 220V power source. The overload will definitely damage your electronics and may also cause undesirable effects to your home circuit. To solve this problem, voltage converters were invented. These useful devices can step up or step down the voltage supply and convert it to the rating that your device requires. For example, if you are in the US where the power voltage supply is at 120V, you need an intermediary voltage converter in order to use an electronic devices and appliances that require a 220V supply. The converter increases the voltage from 120V to 220V. Keep in mind, however, that not all voltage converters are the same. Some are just step up voltage converters which increase voltage from 100V to 240V. Some, on the other hand, are just step down converters that reduce the voltage supply from 240V to 100V. If you like traveling to different places, it is advisable to get a dual voltage converter. This type functions either as a step up or a step down transformer. It is a convenient device that will help you wherever you go. Be sure to get heavy-duty voltage converters that are designed for continuous use so that you can enjoy an uninterrupted power when you travel.
