What is Hydro Excavation And How Does it work

Hydro Excavation utilizes Hydrovac Trucks so as to excavate soil. It works especially well when used to dig into the cold Edmonton soil for example, for the solidified ground is hard to dismantle. The equipment one needs would incorporate a substantial water supply, a bigger trash tank, a high-weight water system with a wand and installed water heater.

  1. How Does Hydro Excavaton Work? Hydro Excavation is a safe and reliable way to excavate; traditional excavations are very dangerous and cause damage when working close to mains power, sewage, and telecommunication and fiber optic lines. But if you use Hydro Excavation to excavate an area then you don’t have to worry because it has flexibility to work around and expose services without any damage and this is the reason that a lot of industrial construction companies prefer this. It is a non-destructive method and it does not require digging. Unlike traditional excavations it can excavate almost any type of material that is needed to excavate on a construction site, including hard packed clay, sand, ice and gravel etc. It is more convenient and can also save a lot of time and labor. Working of Hydro Excavation: Hydro Excavation is a kind of trenchless technology and is a non-destructive digging or excavation, its process depends on two parts. In first part it uses a jetting rod to spray high pressurized water at the surface in order to break apart the dirt, grass, mud, clay or any compound surface. In the second part it uses high volume suction vacuum to suck up the water and dirt broken apart from the first part of the process into the debris tank. A vacuum is necessary in Hydro Excavation. Currently there are two types of vacuums available, a fan blower and a positive displacement blower. Fan blower is easy to operate or control and it is light, faster and less expensive than the other one. Positive displacement blower can move air to longer distances than fan blower and it can excavate greater depths but it is slower than fan blower.

  2.   Working difference between Conventional Method and Hydro Excavation: Conventional Method:Hand digging is required around utilities because machine digging is not possible due to unknown specific location of utilities which consumes a lot of time. Because of large amount of digging a large area is disrupted and it requires more time to restore the area to its original condition.

  3. Hydro Excavation: If we talk about hydro excavation, it is capable to safely remove the earth by water, air, vacuum pressure without digging a large amount of area. It removes faster than other conventional methods and it can be deployed in hours. It excavates a direct path to utility and workers are kept above the ground. It does not disrupt the large area. Therefore, less time is required to restore the ground to its original condition. With Hydro Excavation we can easily control the depth, speed and digging area. It can work 30 to 50 meters away from the roadsides or access areas.   Working Purposes of Hydro Excavation: Hydro Excavation is a trenchless technology because it does not require much digging. We can use Hydro Excavation for confined digging, utility service repairs, mains or service exposure, slot trenching, under excavation (Under object or structure), tight space works where excavators can’t get too, tree roots, debris removal via suction, piling hole excavation, trenching, removing potholing, hard/cold surface excavation/remote digging, exposing utilities, cold weather digging etc. These are some common and main purposes or uses of Hydro Excavation. excavation, remote
