  2. Wedding Dress Styles – How to Flatter Your Figure It's difficult for all brides to look the same, because there are so many different wedding dress styles for them to choose from. A bride's wedding day look will be created by picking out a wedding dress with both a silhouette and neckline that flatters her figure. Wedding dress styles come in a number of combinations of silhouettes matched with necklines. This means that a bride with almost any type of body shape will be able to find a dress that looks good on her. Let's start by looking at the most common silhouettes. Wedding dress styles usually fall into these five categories. BALL GOWN: The ball gown has a form-fitting bodice with a full skirt. It is the "Cinderella" look. Ball gowns are considered to be what brides would call a traditional look of all bridal dress silhouettes. Basque waist ball gown features a fitted bodice with an elongated V-shape beneath and at the front and center of the waistline. This style minimizes the width of the dress at the waist. Natural waist ball gown has it's waistline at the "natural waist - usually about half way between the ribcage and the narrowest part. Asymmetrical waist ball gown features a a waistline that goes more at a diagonal at the waist from one side of the dress to the other side. Dropped waist ball gown starts a few inches below the belly button. This style elongates the look of the torso and is very popular right now, with many choices of length of the drop of the waist itself.

  3. SHEATH CUT: Simple, sleek and elegant, a Column Style wedding gown can fall nearly straight down from the neckline to the hem or it can hug your curves, accentuating your torso, waist and hips. Although flattering for several body types, depending on the fabric chosen, the Sheath or Column Silhouette may not allow much room for hiding certain problem areas, like a larger lower body. However choose your fabric carefully (heavier is less form fitting) this can be a stunning choice for your wedding. This is the most popular wedding dress style for beach weddings, as well as other destination weddings.

  4. A-LINE: A-Line or Princess cut gowns have an A-shape that is created by vertical seams running from the shoulders to a flared skirt. They are characterized by their narrow-at-the-top, then wider at the bottom shape. This style is designed to elongate the lines of the body, with the illusion of length. This style has no specifically designed waistline.. The silhouette can look good with many different designs elements - belts, bands and sashes, etc. EMPIRE WAIST: The classic empire line dress is cut with a high waistline that sits just below the bust. Falling with a slight flare, the skirt style can flow freely or be a bit more fitted depending on what is most flattering to your particular body shape. Its slender, flowing style is the ideal choice for creating the illusion of length on a petite figure and is similarly flattering to the fuller figure as, just like the A-line, it gently skims curves rather than clinging to them. This style is also elegant on smaller busted girls.

  5. Trumpet / Mermaid: Curvaceous and VERY form fitting, this wedding dress style is typically for the very confident bride. Mermaid gowns hug the body rather tightly all the way down to your knees, where the dress flares out. This is a really sexy style that shows off ALL of your curves. It screams sophistication and elegance, yet can be chosen for a barefoot beach wedding or formal ball room affair. An elegant choice for anyone with broad shoulders, and if you have a slender or athletic build, this style is also particularly striking. If you're petite it will elongate your figure, and if you're keen to flaunt your curves, However, if there are certain areas you'd rather not accentuate, its clingy design might not be the style for you. Whatever kind of wedding outfit you choose, make sure it reflects your personality, your style and most of all that you feel absolutely comfortable in it. Beyond that, the specifics are up to you!
