  3. In this Presentation • Assume BlackBerry 10 Device is connected to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server 10 • BlackBerry Enterprise Server Suite is the RTM version • Only discussing BlackBerry Enterprise Server 10, not Universal Device Service (iOS and Android Management)

BlackBerry Balance • Enabled when device is registered with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server • Defines the “Work” and “Personal” Perimeters • Enterprise (“Work”) information is separated from “Personal” information • BES10 Policies allow for restriction of cross-perimeter communications like: • Unable to copy & paste from “Work” to “Personal” • Require “Work” Browser when opening links from “Work” Mail Account • Allow moving data from “Personal” to “Work,” but not vice-versa • Certain Native “Apps” can see across the perimeters: • BlackBerry Hub (Messaging) • Calendar (Multiple Calendar Viewing) • Contacts (Consolidated Contact Management)

BlackBerry HUB • The BlackBerry Hub handles all of your messaging and there is no longer a “Mail” Application. • The BlackBerry Hub is: • Always Running • Allows for “Peek” with gesture • Integrates all services (Corporate mail, personal mail, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Calls, Visual Voice Mail, etc.) into a single view • If Balance is enabled and the “Work” perimeter locked, you will still see other messages and a note that the “Work” space is locked. • Allows you to glance at the calendar by pulling down on the Hub Messages

Server Roles • BlackBerry Enterprise Server 10 RTM release consists of: • BlackBerry Device Service 6.x (Re-branded as BES10) • Supports BlackBerry Z10, Q10, and PlayBook devices • BlackBerry Universal Device Service • Supports Android and iOS Devices • BlackBerry Management Studio (formerly Mobile Fusion) • Front-end management solution for all BlackBerry Domains • Supports multiple instances of Legacy BES, BES10, and UDS • No BES 10 Role has native High Availability

High Availability • Legacy BES • Multiple servers to handle a single BlackBerry “Instance.” (bound to a single SRP) • Service separation (placing critical services on one server and non-critical services on another) • BES 10 RTM: • BES 10 RTM does not have native high availability • This can be mitigated by creating independent Instances locally or across data centers • There is no automatic failover, so manual intervention is required

Recommendations from the Field • BlackBerry Admin Services: • Install the BlackBerry Admin Services on separate servers than the critical Core Services • If you plan on going single server, plan the additional memory constraint into your build • Microsoft SQL Server • Use SQL Server 2012 and create your database in an Availability Group to allow for SQL Server failure • Training • Have the end users watch the online videos (available on the device under “Setup,” “Learn How”) • Consider including a “Quick Reference Guide” with new devices
