Causes/transmitted • Shin splints are caused by a irritated or a swollen muscle in the shin. This is often cause by overusing the muscle. There is also stress fractures which are little hairline breaks in the lower part of the leg bones. Being flat footed is not helping either, it tends to stretch the muscle and the tendons.

Anti-inflammatory pain killers such as; ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirins all help shin splints stop the pain and the swelling. Using an arch support shoe also helps as well as range of motion exercises.
