  3. Rationale for the NYSESLAT • What is the NYSESLAT? • Why do we use the NYSESLAT? • What does it look like? • How long is the test? • Who takes the test? • What accommodations do we need to provide? Few – Refer to page 5 of the NYSESLAT School Administrator’s Manual

  4. Five Test Levels Grades K-1 Grades 2-4 Grades 5-6 Grades 7-8 Grades 9-12

  5. Test Format • The NYSESLAT is formatted in the following order: • Listening • Reading • Writing: • Writing Conventions • Pre-Writing (except in K-1) • Writing • Speaking – Although it appears last, the Speaking subtest is the first to be administered.
