NYS Global Regents Exam REGENTS FORMULA: You Need as a Minimum Multiple Choice (50 Questions) = 30 TIME: 40 min DBQ Open Ended Questions 13-14 = 11 TIME: 20 min Thematic Essay (out of 5) = 3 TIME: 60 min DBQ Essay (out of 5) = 3 TIME: 60 min ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Score = 65-70 3 Hours

Multiple Choice Tips • Read the question asked. • Read each possible answer choice. • Eliminate the obvious wrong answers. • Review the question, looking for matches between one of the answers and the data presented. • Select the best answer based on your analysis NYS Regents in Global History & Geography You Need at Minimum 50% of the 50 Questions = 25 Questions Correct

Thematic Essay Tips • Intro: • Use the DRL Strategy which includes the WRS strategy for your theme / topic sentence (D = Define, R = Rewrite Theme/Historical Context, L = List topics you will write about) • Body Paragraphs: • Use 1 Body Paragraph for each task, or topic. • Conclusion: • Restate theme • Restate 1 Sentence or example from each body paragraph • Statement relating topic to the world today Do not use 1st person language. NYS Regents in Global History & Geography Try not to look at the suggestions. As long as the topic you will write about fits the theme in Global History it is Okay! Use the Suggestions only if you are stuck.

DBQ Essay Tips • Intro: • Use the DRL Strategy which includes the WRS strategy for your theme / topic sentence (D = Define, R = Rewrite Theme/Historical Context, L = List topics you will write about) • Body Paragraphs: • When referring to documents , you must use the following strategies: • At end of sentence put the doc # in parenthesis (doc 1). • Use outside information related to topic/document • Check to make sure you have used enough documents. • Conclusion: • Restate theme • Restate 1 Sentence or example from each body paragraph • Statement relating topic to the world today Do not use 1st person language. Do not use your opinion , only facts from docs NYS Regents in Global History & Geography
