Over the past 14 years, medical schools have witnessed remarkable growth in several key areas. Full-time basic science faculty has seen a 2.5-fold increase and clinical faculty a 5-fold increase, according to LCME data. Research space expanded by 50%, while NIH awards to U.S. medical schools increased 4.5-fold. Additionally, faculty practice plan revenues surged 40-fold, and state appropriations rose 3.5-fold. Endowment income grew 7-fold, illustrating a strong commitment to enhancing medical education and research.
